Abstract


The purposes of this research are to determine characteristics, effectiveness and a feasibility study for science process skill module integrated with environmental pollution issue (SPSM-EP).

This is a research and development with one-shot case study as pre-experimental design. The Four-D model (Thiagarajan, 1974) that consists of defining, designing, developing and dissemination used for developing SPSM-EP. The research conducted in SMP Negeri 1 Sukolilo and data were collected and analyzed with qualitative-quantitative description.

The research results showed that SPSM-EP have a contribution and effective to enhance student’s critical thinking and academic achievement. The effectiveness of SPSM-EP showed on the enhancement of critical thinking and academic. The effectiveness of SPSM-EP towards student’s critical thinking determined by the percentage of students that passed the critical thinking test. Student’s critical thinking enhance relatively high in every learning activity with 77.57%, 83.83%, 93.45%. The effectiveness of SPSM-EP towards student’s academic achievement determined by the percentage of students that passed the cognitive, psychomotor and affective leaning outcomes. Student’s academic achievement enhance relatively high with 83.60%, 88%, 92% for cognitive then 86%, 92%, 92.2% for psychomotor and 89%, 93%, 96% for affective learning outcomes. The experts, colleagues, students, postgraduate and undergraduate teachers are determined to conduct a feasibility study for SPSM-EP. The experts conduct a feasibility study for SPSM-EP based on content, design and language. The feasibility study results from experts are 92.5% for content, 92% for design and 100% for language. The feasibility study results from colleagues, students, postgraduate and undergraduate teachers are 96%, 98%, 96% and 88%. The feasibility study results showed that SPSM-EP was feasible to be used for students.
