Abstract

Knowledge of students’ context in the learning process is very important. With that knowledge, lecturers can determine an appropriate learning model to be applied. Therefore, determining an appropriate learning model for Mathematics Education students who study Elementary Statistics Course in Class A based on students’ context in Reflective Pedagogy Paradigm becomes the purpose of this research. This research was conducted from August to December 2016 with the number of the subjects was 33 students who take Elementary Statistics course in Class A. Data of students’ context were analyzed qualitatively which were collected through open questionnaire and SIA document. The findings of this research showed that there are five characteristics of learning model that can be applied on Elementary Statistics Course in Class A. Those characteristics are 1) Can be applied to class that has heterogeneous students’ capability; 2) Encourage interaction between student; 3) Encourage students to work together; 4) Accommodate the deepening of the material independently that emphasizes the meaning; 5) Help students to be caring person. Based on these characteristics, cooperative learning model is one of an appropriate model that can be applied in on Elementary Statistics Course in Class A.
