Abstract

This study aims to (1) describe the application of Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite and Review (PQ4R) models in empowering critical thinking skills and (2) to describe the creative thinking empowerment of preservice teacher in primary education program at Universitas Sebelas Maret towards the application of PQ4R model. The number of 39 students of the research is second semester  who take course the basic science concept. Research method using Action Research approach. Techniques of collecting data by observation, interview and documentation. Data analysis using triangulation technique. The results show the implementation of PQ4R learning steps that include Preview, Question, Read, Reflect, Recite, Review. There is an increase in learning outcomes for creative thinking from each cycle.
